She brought her considerable talents as a dancer, fashion designer, photographer, and sculptor to her modeling, creating a persona at once earthly and larger than life. She was represented by the Marlborough Gallery in Manhattan.

 

Lisa Fonssagrives died at the age of 81, in 1992, survived by her second husband, Irving Penn and her two children, daughter, Mia Fonssagrives-Solow, a costume designer and her son, Tom Penn, a designer.
